Terms of Service

By creating an account or using CottageConnect Muskoka (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

CottageConnect Muskoka is an online directory and communications platform that helps customers discover local businesses and tradespeople in the Muskoka region. We are not a party to any agreement, transaction, work performed, or dispute between customers and businesses. See our Disclaimer for full details.

• You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract.
• You are responsible for the accuracy of your information and for keeping your password secure.
• You must verify your email address before signing in.
• One person or legal entity per account. You may not impersonate another.

• Businesses must hold all licences, insurance and permits required to operate in Ontario.
• Listings must be accurate, lawful and free of misleading claims.
• We may remove or suspend any listing that violates these terms, at our sole discretion.
• Publishing a listing requires an active paid subscription unless otherwise stated.

• Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually through Stripe in Canadian dollars and renew automatically.
• You may cancel at any time from your account page; access continues until the end of the current billing period.
• Except where required by law, fees are non-refundable. Promotional credits and discount codes have no cash value and may be revoked if abused.
• Applicable taxes (HST) are added at checkout.
• If a payment fails, your listing may be suspended after a grace period.

You agree NOT to:

• Post false, defamatory, harassing, hateful or unlawful content.
• Solicit users for purposes unrelated to the Service.
• Scrape, copy, or harvest data from the Service without written permission.
• Attempt to bypass security, rate limits, or paid features.
• Use the Service to send spam or unsolicited commercial communication.
• Upload malware, viruses, or any harmful code.

We may suspend or terminate any account that violates these rules.

You retain ownership of content you submit (listings, photos, messages, reviews). By submitting it, you grant CottageConnect Muskoka a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, display, reproduce and distribute it as needed to operate and promote the Service.

You are solely responsible for the content you post and must have all necessary rights to it.

Direct messages and reviews must be truthful and respectful. We may moderate, remove or refuse to display any content that violates these terms. Defamatory reviews may be removed on request with reasonable evidence.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, accuracy of listings, the quality or safety of any work performed by listed businesses, or the outcome of any transaction.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CottageConnect Muskoka, its owners, employees and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service or any interaction with a listed business. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or CAD $100, whichever is greater.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CottageConnect Muskoka from any claim, liability, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, your violation of these terms, or your dealings with another user.

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you breach these terms. On termination, your right to use the Service ceases and your data is handled per our Privacy Policy.

We may change features, pricing, or these terms at any time. Material changes will be announced by email or on the site. Continued use after an update means you accept the new terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any dispute shall be resolved in the courts located in the District of Muskoka, Ontario, and you consent to that exclusive jurisdiction.
