1. Platform role

CottageConnect Muskoka ("CottageConnect," "we," "us," or "our") operates an online directory and lead-routing platform that helps cottage owners and other customers discover independent service businesses in the Muskoka region. We are not a contractor, broker, agent, employer, or partner of any business listed on the platform, and we do not perform, supervise, inspect, guarantee, or warrant any work that those businesses offer or carry out.

2. No responsibility for customer–business relations

Any contact, communication, quote, contract, payment, service, or other dealing between a customer and a listed business is solely between those two parties. CottageConnect is not a party to that relationship and has no legal obligation, liability, or responsibility of any kind arising from it, including but not limited to:

• the quality, safety, timeliness, legality, or completeness of any work performed;
• workmanship defects, property damage, personal injury, or loss of any kind;
• missed appointments, no-shows, cancellations, or refusal of service;
• pricing disputes, deposits, invoices, refunds, chargebacks, or non-payment;
• licensing, insurance, WSIB coverage, certifications, or regulatory compliance of any business;
• warranty claims, guarantees, or post-job follow-up;
• conduct, representations, or omissions of any business, its employees, or its subcontractors.

3. No responsibility for poor or unsatisfactory work

If work performed by a listed business is incomplete, defective, late, damaging, or otherwise unsatisfactory, the customer's recourse is against that business directly. CottageConnect has no obligation to mediate, refund, re-perform, compensate, or otherwise remedy any such issue, and accepts no liability for it.

4. No endorsement or verification of listings

Listings, reviews, badges, ratings, response-time statistics, and other content on the platform are provided for informational purposes only. While we may display indicators such as a "verified business" badge, those indicators reflect limited internal checks and are not a guarantee or endorsement of a business's skill, character, insurance, licensing, or fitness for any particular job. Customers are solely responsible for performing their own due diligence — including confirming licensing, insurance, references, and written contracts — before engaging any business.

5. No responsibility for transactions

Any payment, deposit, or financial transaction between a customer and a listed business is made directly between those parties. Even where a payment-processing tool is offered or linked through the platform, CottageConnect is not the merchant of record for the underlying services and has no responsibility for the delivery, quality, refund, or dispute of those services.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CottageConnect Muskoka, its owners, operators, employees, and affiliates disclaim all warranties, express or implied, regarding any business listed on the platform or any work performed by such business, and shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or related to any interaction, agreement, or transaction between a customer and a listed business.
